United States (work remotely)

About TSER
Trans Student Educational Resources is a youth-led organization dedicated to transforming the educational environment for trans and gender nonconforming students through advocacy and empowerment. In addition to our focus on creating a more trans-friendly education system, our mission is to educate the public and teach trans activists how to be effective organizers. We believe that justice for trans and gender nonconforming youth is contingent on an intersectional framework of activism. Ending oppression is a long-term process that can only be achieved through collaborative action. We are the only national organization led by trans youth and the only one focusing specifically on trans students. Learn more about our history here.
Description and Responsibilities
TSER generally has materials sent to around 20 events (primarily queer and trans conferences) per year. We table and/or host workshops at about 5-10 of these events. This job entails responsibilities pertaining to these events including:

    • Coordinating protests, demonstrations, and other forms of resistance
    • Hosting workshops on behalf of TSER at conferences, events, colleges, universities, and schools
    • Coordinating TSER staff and volunteers to attend conferences and events
    • Tabling/vending at events
    • Working with shipping manager to send TSER materials to events
    • Creating budgets for the cost of attending conferences

Except attending/tabling at events and other demonstrations yourself, most of this work is remote and conducted online.

An ideal candidate is knowledgeable about radical transgender activism with proven experience coordinating events/tabling remotely, in person, or both. Someone who is outgoing and has connections within the queer/trans community who may be able to help find volunteers for us is also beneficial. A flexible schedule that will allow this individual to attend at least 5 events per year will also help an applicant.

As with all our jobs, we prioritize trans youth of color (particularly Black and Indigenous trans youth) in our selections. Applicants can reside anywhere in the United States.

Approximately 90 hours/year
$1500 contracted
Other benefits
Funding for attending queer and trans conferences and events and option to represent TSER in media.
